HPI PRESCHOOL - FALL 2016
Happy Snowmen
Who can resist painting adorable snowmen with all of these snow days? Today we used a cotton ball at the end of a clothes pin to assemble our snowman and then a q-tip again for little snowflakes. Students glued their faces, stick arms, scarf and buttons on themselves!
A Giraffe and A Half
These giraffes have such tall necks that their heads are in the clouds! Pinching a Q-tip and dipping it down onto our paper to make our dots and pulling apart cotton balls continued to build our little finger muscles. Students chose where to places their heads!
Pumpkin Collages
Practice makes perfect! We practiced more ripping and used little green strips to make a pumpkin collage. We used a gluey sponge to apply sticky glue, it was a messy and delightful time!
Suncatcher Leaves
Washable markers can really do wonderous things aside from washing out of clothes. We colored in coffee filters with lots of colors. Then, I came around with my special water bottle and sprayed the filters as the students "ooh'ed" and "ah'ed" as they watched the colors spread and mix. We pressed the filter in between two papers and made prints of our filter! The use of those papers is still TBD... the filter was glued onto a leaf cutout where the students then colored and glued sequins.
Fall Trees
Leaves change color and fall down in the FALL??!! How exciting to watch these little guys and gals as they discover the world. I handed scissors to little hands to cut the tree and branches but quickly changed the skill to tearing with our hands. We will learn to cut paper another day... Who knew tearing paper could be so fun and challenging! Stamping leaf-shaped sponges was so exciting and helped us build some dexterity in those tiny fingers.
Lions
How precious are these little plate lions? The first day 3 and 4 year olds walked into my room I had no idea what to expect. Every day with them brings new discovers by them and by me of them. They loved painting their plates yellow and gold, and gluing on the yarn mane and foam paper eyes and nose. They are so simple but each one is unique and special.
This was our little poem we read:
Little lion big and strong,
I love to hear you all day long,
But when it's night and time to sleep,
I wish you would not make a peep.
